About Us
A Star Leotard is now in it’s 8th year – it seems amazing that we started all this that long ago and that we have come so far! We started in our dining room and due to our popularity have expanded. We moved into bigger premises 3 years ago and are at the point now that we need to move again to help us produce enough garments to fulfil all of our orders.
Our aim is still to create our leotards to give Gymnasts, Trampolinists, Cheer-leaders, Majorettes, (and anyone else who might be interested) more choice using carefully selected modern fabrics. Hopefully our range will have something which appeals to everyone who looks for comfort, fashion and quality from a leotard. The options are endless because as well as the range we sell, we make club outfits to order in any combination of fabrics and many designs (including your own).
Geography
We are based in Mid-Devon and although we move from village to village have still stayed within a 5 mile radius of where we originated. We are now in a Rural Business Centre miles from no-where!!
History
A Star is Born.
And my daughters are to blame.
Having spent enough time listening to my daughters request for a specific coloured leotard and not being able to find one, I wondered that perhaps the only way to get peace in the house was to make one myself. The more I talked to other parents, the more there seemed an opportunity for a new range of outfits, particularly quality garments at realistic prices. Hence “A Star Leotards” was born 8 years ago. It took a long time and lots of research to launch a range of fashionable quality leotards all that time ago. Initially we tried to obtain British made fabrics but could not find the quality of manufacture we wanted (if you’re out there please contact me!) so we imported most of our fabric from Europe. Our designers spoke to young gymnasts and trampolinists to discover what points they consider to be important and then a range was produced. Since then we have developed the range of designs and fabrics, we hope you like them.
Although both my daughters are still involved in the sports, only one is using & competing in the leotards, but both are still modelling the garments on the website.
Logistics
We employ local people, mainly mums with children at schools locally to cut, sew, embroider, diamante, check quality, process orders & administer accounts. We work closely as a team to bring you the quality garments you have come to expect from A Star Leotards.
Being a small company we can often make individual garments as requested so if you see a design that you like which is not in the fabric you like then please give us a ring and we will try and help, or try out our Custom leotard option on the website. This is a part of the website where you can look at our designs and try them out with different fabric options to see what they would look like. Also if any clubs or schools want special designs, for teams for example, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
